As soon as I started reading I was crying! It was absolutely amazing. Actually, that's a lie because in reality as soon as I finally found the ARC I was crying. These are the emotions you cause Aimee; insta-tears.

I couldn't hold it together at all the entire time I was reading the book. There was so many heart stopping moments that I'm sure I had heart failure and went into cardiac arrest. My life was ending and beginning so many times that I almost wished I could stop reading. You know its a FANTASTIC book when you wish you could stop reading because its so amazing that it hurts you. I have NEVER experienced such stress and dispair just from reading a book. I had to wait a month just to recover from what happened to me in the 7 hours of nonstop reading I did to finish the book. I work at a book store where books are everywhere and after reading the book every time I passed by teen paranormal romance and happened to see the spin of your other books I wanted to cry. You caused so many emotions in just that many pages of a book that I couldn't recover swiftly.

I don't even think I can write about or hint at anything that happened in the book because it will spoil the essence that is you absolute genius. I will say though, that after that kill blow of a teaser at the end ofGoddess Interrupted that there would be more Henry POV but there sadly wasn't. If its okay with you I give my permission to write every book over in Henry POV. It shouldn't take you long, your virtually a genius anyway. You book is like a literary drug; I think I was addicted to the series because I stalked NetGalley every day from the time Goddess Interrupted was released. The craftsmanship in your writing style is absolute perfection and the way you form your cliffhangers leaves the reader unsatisfied with pleasure. I'm starting to believe that on some neurological level your books made love to me. I wanted everything I was reading, but when I was dissatisfied or left pinning for more I found a sort of soul touching need to keep on reading. I don't know how to explain this without sounding creepy, but its like your books made love to the reader in me, feeding ever fantasy I have ever wanted an author to touch when I read their work. And even though the series is finished (I think) I'm left wanting more, but I'm so satisfied at the same time. It's like you've quenched and unquenchable thirst or something. I have never in my life of reading been this content after reading a series, and I was kind of close after Hunger Games.

Thank you Aimee, from the bottom of my heart for giving me literary essence at its finest.

I can't even give you a rating because there is none personally that dignifies how much the book touched my very being.

Flirting in Italian

by Lauren Henderson

Four girls. One magical, and possibly dangerous Italian summer. Family mysteries, ancient castles, long hot nights of dancing under the stars . . . and, of course, plenty of gorgeous Italian boys!

So I'm on a YA travel/adventure-abroad kick. And I'm loving it! It's made me want to take Italian, hop on a plane to Europe, and meet some gorgeous guy who will whisk me off my feet. My kick has also infected my music choices; I think I listened to "An Evening in Roma" a hundred times just while reading Flirting in Italian.

I must say that at first I was a little skeptical about the family-history plot line. I wasn't sure how it would be woven into the story besides being the motivation for Violet's stay in Italy. But Lauren Henderson knew what she was doing and it worked out just as it should, by not being the sole focus and yet not disappearing completely. Once I became attached to the characters, this part of the book became much more important to me and I'm anxious to see how it comes together (I can't figure out an inkling of how it's going to work out). The rest of the plot focus is exactly what you'd want out of a summer in Italy; fun, excitement, and filled with romance.

Violet has an absolutely gorgeous name in Italian: Violetta. It fits her too. She's pretty, independently minded, and she has a good heart. She isn't afraid to go dance alone on at a party, stand up to mean girls, or slap a boy when he deserves it. And while I was glad Violet had a very smart voice in her head, I'm both frustrated and amused that she didn't always follow its advice.

So, Violet wants to find herself and it's obvious that Tuscany is the perfect place to do so! Thus she enrolls in a summer program at a little villa and begins her adventure. I really liked the dynamics of the four girls in the program. Kelly, Kendra, and Paige (the other girls) were distinct characters that really balanced Violet. (P.S. I thought Paige was a hoot! ) Anyway I enjoyed when the girls bonded and even when they didn't get along because it added some reality.

Okay I'll stop stalling and tell you about the boys. One, they're Italian and gorgeous. Two, when they're around the scenes are just great. Three, they are both romantic and frustrating. And finally, you just have to read the book to find out more. Don't be mad. The scenes with Luca and Violet will make up for my unwillingness to tell you more.

Oh and did I mention there's a second book? No? Well that's cause I didn't know until the end of the book. When I had ten pages left I started to panic, wondering how this was going to resolve itself so quickly and still leave me satisfied... but well you know what always happens to me (the curse of the cliffhanger). I'm happy though because now I get a whole nother book with Luca and Violet (and everyone else too). So don't panic when you approach the end, because we've got another book to look forward to!

Meant To Be

By Lauren Morrill

Meant to be or not meant to be . . . that is the question.

It's one thing to fall head over heels into a puddle of hazelnut coffee, and quite another to fall for the—gasp—wrong guy. Straight-A junior Julia may be accident prone, but she's queen of following rules and being prepared. That's why she keeps a pencil sharpener in her purse and a pocket Shakespeare in her, well, pocket. And that's also why she's chosen Mark Bixford, her childhood crush, as her MTB ("meant to be").

But this spring break, Julia's rules are about to get defenestrated (SAT word: to be thrown from a window) when she's partnered with her personal nemesis, class-clown Jason, on a school trip to London. After one wild party, Julia starts receiving romantic texts . . . from an unknown number! Jason promises to help discover the identity of her mysterious new suitor if she agrees to break a few rules along the way. And thus begins a wild goose chase through London, leading Julia closer and closer to the biggest surprise of all: true love.

Completely lovely and whimsical in every way. I honestly just adore this book. I couldn't get that goofy happy smile off my face after reading it. So of course now I'm going to just gush about it- which of course will make you want to read it and love it just like me!

So a quick word about the plot; it's so fun! If you liked Anna and the French Kiss, you should pick this up, but then again anyone with a heart should read it so you're covered either way. I also think fans of the Lizzie McGuire Movie should acquire a copy of this book as soon as possible. I mean it's about a school trip to London! It's got the buddy system, parties, romantic-ness, cool London stuff, British people, and I mean there's a redhead! What more do you need? Umm nothing. The plot may be a little predictable at times, but I warn you not to get ahead of yourself because there are surprises in this little book. Ms. Morrill got me a couple times with her sneakiness. The characters, though, are what I truly adored.

Oh Julia. How do I adore thee? Let me count some ways. Number 1: You are quirky in a smart, athletic, geeky way. No. 2 pencils (I crack myself up). Number 3: You are hilarious. I found it quite nice that Julia was so intelligent and even fit (she's amazing at swimming), yet she wasn't popular. Her love life is quite a mess once Hurricane Jason tears her carefully very planned world apart- a Meant To Be boy, mysterious British bachelor, and maybe someone else too. Now Julia is so caught up adhering to the rules and trying to find a way to be with Mark (her MTB), that it takes a hurricane of trouble to get her to go a little outside the box...and to make this book such fun.

That hurricane is Jason. The one boy who's going to get our pal Jules to have fun- even if it means by force. This boy is a blast, although at times he can annoy me to bits and make me question what's really going on. And of course he's nice to look at too- did I mention he's a redhead? I happen to have a weak spot for redheads, so Jason's almost automatically amazing. He's more than just the class clown- he's got layers. So not only is he a funny charming redhead, but he may also be a sensitive and romantic one too. I wish he were real and could marry me....Anyway, I'm not going to spoil anything but I will tell you that when these two are together (which is basically the entire book) you will laugh, smile, be frustrated, and be witness to shenanigans.

So go retrieve this book from your nearest store of books and realize you and this book were meant to be!

It began in the graveyard. Ever since her boyfriend Nathan died in a tragic accident Emma had been coming to the graveyard at night. During the day she went through the motions at her prep school, in class, with her friends, but that’s all it was. But tonight was different. Tonight Emma and her dog were not alone in the cemetery. There were two others there—Eric, who had just started at her school, and an ancient woman who looked as though she were made of rags. And when they saw Emma there, the old woman reached out to her with a grip as chilling as death….

Emma was not quite like other teenagers. It was true that other girls had experienced grief. Other girls had also lost their fathers or had their boyfriends die in a senseless accident. But though she hadn't known it till that night in the graveyard, unlike other girls, she could see, touch, and speak with the dead. In fact, Emma could draw upon the essence of the dead to work magic. That was what Necromancers did. But Emma had no desire to be a Necromancer. She just wanted to help the ghost who walked the streets of Toronto, unable to escape from the land of the living. And that was just as well, because had she chosen the path of the Necromancer, Eric would have had to kill her.

But whether Emma and her friend could survive such a battle was anyone's guess. And whether Emma could learn to use the magic of the dead against her enemies without herself falling victim to the lure of such power remained to be seen. Eric seemed to think she could, and her living friends would never abandon her. Any Love But Mine by Debbie

Look but don't touch has never been more true...

The gods forbade her to love, but love is a powerful force. Acacia has been created purely for Eros' pleasure but discovers within moments of being summoned into his presence that he has no interest in her whatsoever. Rejected, she is banished to Earth to serve as Eros' minion with the task of promoting the blissful state of love among all those around her, a state she must never indulge in with a human being herself on pain of immediate destruction. And then comes Josh, someone whose power of attraction over Acacia is so intense she will find it utterly impossible to resist him. But is he human? Is he a god? Or is he a trick of the gods? And what would happen should they kiss?

Man I love Greek mythology. There is always a way to turn the stories into something new and interesting, and that's what Debbie did. Any Love but Mine was amazing! I loved everything about it, and the story is so interesting that you get wrapped up in it. I don't even know how to but into words how excited I am for the rest of these books. All the characters were interesting in their own ways, even if they were only there briefly. And the way she wrote it makes you feel apart of the book.

The story is basically about the Erosians, goddesses of love each created for Eros to replace Psyche but he never wants them. Acacia is the recent creation and is sent off with the other two, Allana and Amora, to Earth to make matches for humans. Acacia, begin the most youthful of the three, is sent to high school to create matches, connecting human auras to their true-love, but is deemed the weirdo of the school because she is a loner. But eh she's suppose to be so get over it. Then she see's Josh, a hottie who happens to have no aura! That freaks her out of course, but also draws her into the tangled web that is true-love.

Now, let me get to the characters! Eros was a total mean, vindictive douche bag! Which actually worked well for me, because usually the Greek gods are shown as these overly charming, charismatic people. Each god had their own evil sides about them, and it was great! Though there were times I wished I could just jump in the story and beat the crap out of Eros. Amora was created to be as beautiful as Helen of Troy and is besties with Aphrodite of course. But don't let the good looks fool you; she is a cold-hearted beep and she doesn't care about anyone but herself. She hates Acacia with a passion and no one knows why. Very typically beep move. Allana is the most motherly of the three, and takes care of Acacia, teaching her what she needs to know and keeping her in line. But she too has things in the past that come up to haunt her. Acacia is the rebellious teen basically, but in goddess form. She thinks that if she has to give love to everyone she should have it too. When she meets Josh her world is whipped into a world wind of chaos, but it doesn't matter because its all for true-love. Sigh.

Of course, Debbie couldn't go through a book without adding in a love triangle. Josh is Acacia's true-love, but when everything hits the fan she finds her only ally in Luca, the vampire-ish head of Hades' army. -_____- Personally, I prefer Joshua, but for some strange reason everyone is head over heels for Luca! He sucks, but I'm just jaded so make your own opinion. Though remember Josh = Acacia true love!!!!!!!

This is definitely a read for all Greek mythology fans! Any Love but Mine contains intrigue, mystery, and chaos, and is sort of like a Greek soap opera with violence.

This story was so much like Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles. The only thing is that PC was more PG-13/R rated-ish and KCC is more PG, with innuendos. LOL. The innuendos were hilarious to me, but still tasteful enough for the 13 and up crowd. But, truth be told, I kind of feel like it was a kiddie, "safe" version of Simone's book; no offense to Christina and all, but that's just how I feel. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there....crickets, crickets, crickets....or maybe I am. LOL

So, the story of Leah, the youngest of three daughters - all perfect, all similar, all expected to follow the path that their mother paved for them - isn't rarely seen. She's supposed to be valedictorian and homecoming queen, just like her sisters. Live a perfect life, just like her sisters. And marry the perfect guy with the right connections. Sounds like happily ever after right? WRONG. Leah has this bout of rebellion in her unlike her sisters, and when she meets Porter (whose name isn't actually Porter) and has a steamy moment with him on the Country Club green life for her will never be the same. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, rebel, rebel, conform, rebel, the end! LOL Well it sort of went like that.

Porter-whose-name-isn't-Porter is the one chance in a chemical relationship for Leah, but he isn't just looks and green eyes. He actually has some depth to him, unlike Leah's handsy boyfriend what's his face LOL. But, anyway, like all romances, they fall for each other, he tells her to choose, and when she does......nope not telling you. You'll just have to read Kiss Crush Collide for yourself too see. :)

Tempest Unleashed by Tracy Deebs

Tempest Maguire is happy with her decision to embrace her mermaid nature and live among her mother’s clan within the ocean’s depths. Even though training to one day ascend the throne for the aging mermaid queen is rigorous, she finds refuge in the arms of Kona, the selkie who first opened her up to her mermaid side. But when word comes that one of her brothers has been gravely injured on land, Tempest immediately rushes to his side—which also brings her back to her old flame, Mark. And in her absence, a deadly battle begins raging at the hands of Tempest’s old nemesis, the sea witch Tiamat. As the dangerous war erupts, Tempest’s two loves—Kona and Mark, sea and land—will collide for the first time, both to protect her and to force her to choose.

Okay, I may have a problem. Like a serious problem. Why can I never pick the romantic interest that gets the girl?! Why?!...I may be speaking a little prematurely, because there's another book in this trilogy, but still. Anyway now I'll get to the stuff you really want to read.

Tempest Unleashed is a good time all around...well maybe not fun for the characters but the reader will be swept up in it (get it? swept up? oh I crack myself up).

Tempest-can I just say I really enjoy that her name is Tempest?- is one girl/mermaid that is determined to stay true to herself. And if you've got a problem with that, well then, she's got some attitude for you. Throughout the book I was like "you go girlfriend!"She's fiery and strong willed, which was a pleasure to read. And her powers? Oh this is one mermaid you don't want to cross. Unfortunately there's a certain sea witch and co. who would love nothing more than to get rid of our favorite little mermaid. (oh the puns!)

I don't think love triangles will ever disappear in YA books- they cause so much drama! And we've got a pretty tangled triangle here. Tempest is obviously a great catch, but she's no damsel in distress. She's forging her own path and she's the one out to rescue her lover boys. Speaking of boys...oh Kona, how I adore thee. Overprotective? Absolutely. Incredibly sweet and caring? Heart-meltingly so. Imperfect? Yup. My favorite? I don't know why you'd think that. I don't know why but I just liked Kona off the bat. He seemed to really be a help for Tempest. As a couple I could see it more as a team, he was there for her and she for him.

Now there is nothing wrong with Mark. I thought he was a good choice (so did some other people apparently). I especially found it reassuring to see a male character who was so supportive and accepting of a strong female character. So props for that. But I still like Kona better. Book three-I need to read you now because despite my trying not to, I got pulled into this triangle and I need to see what the final outcome is!

Despite my mermaid puns, Tempest Unleashed was an engaging read that left me ready for the next book, while still giving me an end (i.e. no cliffhanger-yay!) And now that I know what's out there in the ocean- I think it's time for a trip to the beach!
So, I don't know if you guys know what THE CINNAMON CHALLENGE is, but I attempted it, twice, and succeeded, once. LOL.

The Cinnamon Challenge is when a brave, or crazy, person tries to swallow a table spoon full of cinnamon. It's not as easy as you think, because you lose if you either spit it out or throw up. YES, that actually happens. Cinnamon is a spice and it's extremely dry so this isn't that pleasant.

Anyway, my friend Brittany and I attempted to do this. The first time we both spit it out and were choking. The second time she got it down but then she threw up. I got it down but thought it was choking so I swallowed some milk after I swallowed the cinnamon.

Overall, it wasn't the best idea we've ever had, but it was highly entertaining. :)

I challenge everyone to at least try the Cinnamon Challenge, just to see if you can do it. LOL.

Yesterday was Gilbert's birthday...YAY! She turned 19, even though 19 isn't such an eventful time in your life. Actually it's kind of like 18 plus 1 LOL. But anyway, let's all wish he a HAPPY , HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Eh, 19 isn't that different. I feel the same, smell the same. Only difference is that I'm older by a year. I'm just hoping that I live a long, long life. But only the higher power will know.

The year is 2009. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.

That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.

Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.

But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler. Recruit… or kill him.

Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.

Finally there's a book with a guys perspective! It seems like if it's a series the book is always from the girl's view and almost never from the guy's. That's what initially drew me to this book; the fact that it was from a guy's perspective, though that didn't keep me interested in the book. I don't know what it was about the book, but I just couldn't keep reading it. It was like instead of a magical force pulling me in the force was pushing me away. I have this theory, that the reason so many authors do girl perspectives is because it's easier to relate to. Once the plot or storyline is set from the girl's perspective it's easier to build a view on what the guy is thinking. An example would be Julie Kagawa and the Iron Fey Series.

I felt lost, not just because it was a guy's view, that wasn't really that much of a problem;; it was mostly because the story seemed to start from a random point. I felt like if Julie would have built more depth in the beginning that I wouldn't have been so lost by the time I reached chapter 3. I hope this is making sense, because it's difficult to explain how my mind works when I read LOL. Though I'm not saying that the book was horrible, it was really good actually, it was just hard to keep reading it. In this case CURIOSITY SAVED THE BOOK LOL. I kept wondering what was going on and what is going to happen next which fueled the fire. Plus, Julie writes really good, there was barely any grammatical errors or mishaps. That's a BIG deal for me sometimes. Her grammar and other English language writing stuff really made this book and transformed it from ehh okay to hmm nicely done.

Overall, this book rated:

All I can say is OH MY GOSH! Aimee filled this book to the top with surprises and unexpected turn of events! I thought I was having a heart attack the entire time. If it wasn't Calliope causing problems, it was Persephone and Kate trying to figure out their new, rocky relationship as sisters. And don't even get me started on HENRY! Gosh, I wanted to hit him one minute, and love him seconds later. So many conflicting emotions; I totally understand why Kate was confused about their relationship the ENTIRE BOOK...Henry makes you want to strangle him. -___-

As for me, while Henry was acting ridiculous, sometimes I wanted to shake Kate. I wanted to look her dead in the eyes and say "Look everyone is telling you the same thing! Take some time, don't jump to conclusions-your life is super stressful at the moment so stop assuming the worst!" But you know, that's mostly Henry's fault so whatever. And might I add- Calliope is craz-ay. I enjoyed getting to know the other characters more in this book; you learn more about everyone, which is refreshing. If you love your mythology, you'll love this.

Aimee, let us discuss the ending of this book. I WILL NOT SPOIL the ending, because it is to much of a surprise to reveal and NO ONE SHOULD SKIP TO THE END! It would just ruin the affect of what happens. Anyway, Aimee I honestly LOVED and <strike>HATED</strike> the end. It was such a great ending, but it made me yearn for the next book so much it hurt. It's like your a diabolical evil genius who is also very amazing as well. I'm not sure if I want to demand answers, cry, or curl up into a fetal position. You are definitely making me feel like Kate and you're Henry, making me love and hate you at the same time. Please finish the next book so that I can read it BEFORE I pull all my hair out. Seriously.

Goddess Interrupted is one of those books that is better than the first book, Goddess Test. I can't really pinpoint what exactly made this book better, maybe it was the ending, but it made me anxious to see that Aimee does for the next book. If only I could just read that one now, then I would be in a better mood.....SIGH oh well. Anyway, everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY should read this book because Aimee stepped up her game to like NFL Playoffs level. :)

Being an heiress in 1920s Austria with nothing but a broken-down castle to your name and nary a penny in your purse could be frustrating for anyone but the Princess Theresa-Maria of Pfaffenstein. “Tessa,” however, is thrilled with her situation, as it allows her to concentrate on her love of the arts—and no one in the Viennese opera company need know that their delightful and charming under-wardrobe mistress is really a princess. But when the dashing self-made millionaire Guy Farne arrives at the opera in search of suitable entertainment for his high society guests, Tessa realizes that there may be more to life—and love—than just music. But while the attraction between them in undeniable, Guy’s insufferable snob of a fiancée only solidifies Tessa’s determination to keep her true identity a secret. Yet, after a chance meeting with the handsome Englishman, Tessa’s reserve begins to melt, and she starts to wonder if it’s not too late for a fairytale ending…

Immediately after reading this book I just sat back and thought "well that was nice, not spectacular and sometimes I lost interest, but nice". Then a little while later something dawned on me (I can guarantee it was not the Breaking Dawn trailer). I realized that while there were some parts that didn't demand my attention, there was something hidden in the pages of Ms. Ibbotson's book.

There are no vampires, faeries, or paranormal anything. There's no gore, killing, or violence that comes to mind. And much to my surprise there was no earth shaking, love at first sight, we're destined for each (although technically they are) type love. That is what's hidden in this book. A kind of real love. Tessa and Guy come to love each other in the same way normal people fall in love. They discovered their common love of the arts (especially music) and shared so many inside references to opera and music that I just shook my head as if I knew what they were talking about. They went out together (though they weren't really dates since dates shouldn't involve Guy rescuing Tessa). They shared personal experiences and things close to their hearts with one another. The more I thought about Tessa and Guy's relationship, the more I saw how similar it was to real life. That's not to say it didn't have a fictional flair. I mean Guy is a ridiculously wealth, smart, good looking guy and Tessa happens to be a princess adored by an entire countryside. I also doubt that the exact twists and turns in their path to one another happen in real life.

The romance was nice, but the book was kind of slow to me. I felt it dragged a bit, especially because I felt the conflict was just dragged on unnecessarily. I can;t go into details without spoiling the book, so I'll leave it at that. The language was sometimes a little old fashioned, but that's just style. Overall the romance kept me interested even if parts of the book seat funny with me.
Hello everyone and welcome to the new year! It's finally 2012, the year that the world is "supposedly" suppose to end, LOL. But, it is also a new beginning for everyone.

We both have decided that with this new beginning Gilbert & Gomez could use some resolutions! Hayley and I have thought had over this past year and what things we could improve on the blog so that you guys' experience is as wonderful as us! :) So, here they are! We hope that if anything should be added or changed ya'll would let us know. You are the audience and we want your opinion.

2012 New Year Resolutions

1. Broaden our range of YA novels. We want to start reading all kinds of YA not just romance and paranormal.

2. Try to post a new blog entry at least 4 times a week.

3. Have at least one new book review each week.

4. Increase audience involvement. We want you guys to be actively involved in what we do, that includes leaving comments on post. :)

5. Have more giveaways! Everyone likes free books, and we want to be able to do this for you guys.

6. Interview authors. We think since now that we have the hang of the whole blogging thing that we will be able to have interviews with our and your favorite authors.

But Ruby will do anything to get her sister back, and when Chloe returns to town two years later, deadly surprises await.

With palpable drama and delicious craft, Nova Ren Suma bursts onto the YA scene with the story that everyone will be talking about.

I feel bad because I really tried to get into this book, but I couldn't. Every time I picked it up I would lose focus or get busy. Then, when I did have time I couldn't get into the story like I normally do. This book wasn't really my style. Point blank.

I thought I would like it because the synopsis was so good and the cover was REALLY interesting. It seemed like a mystery book with a twist and I love unexpected twist. I mean the story was creepily beautiful and disturbing, but it just didn't sit well with me. The writing was good and the plot was interesting, but something about the characters and the pace of the story just wasn't right for me. I don't know if it was the weird Chloe-Ruby relationship (the fact that Chloe basically wanted to be in Ruby skin - exaggeration - bothered me), or the fact that I like my leading ladies strong, confident, sure of themselves with a dash of miniature insecurity (because what girl isn't a little insecure) and Chloe was not really any of that. I DON'T KNOW, but I wasn't feeling it. Plus, Ruby seemed a tad bit fake to me, I'm just saying.

I'm not putting this book off for anybody though. If you want to read it go ahead. It's interesting, just not my style. Who knows, you might really like it and see something in it that I just didn't. Plus, Nova Ren is a pretty good author and her writing was good, just the characters require a certain taste. So, don't knock it till you try it.

Freak. That's what her classmates call seventeen-year-old Donna Underwood. When she was seven, a horrific fey attack killed her father and drove her mother mad. Donna's own nearly fatal injuries from the assault were fixed by magic—the iron tattoos branding her hands and arms. The child of alchemists, Donna feels cursed by the magical heritage that destroyed her parents and any chance she had for a normal life. The only thing that keeps her sane and grounded is her relationship with her best friend, Navin Sharma.

When the darkest outcasts of Faerie—the vicious wood elves—abduct Navin, Donna finally has to accept her role in the centuries old war between the humans and the fey. Assisted by Xan, a gorgeous half-fey dropout with secrets of his own, Donna races to save her friend—even if it means betraying everything her parents and the alchemist community fought to the death to protect.

I've come to a realization that you aren't always going to like every book you read. For awhile I enjoyed all the books I read. But I realize now that the books that you don't fall into and connect with make your favorite books that much better. I also know that just because you may not like a book doesn't mean it's a bad book- it's just not for you.

I've had a lot of epiphanies as you can see.

For some reason I just couldn't connect with the characters in this book. I can't explain it, but that's the plain truth. Navin was funny. Donna was courageous. Xan was the "dark guy with a troubled past" (although he did have blond hair). But I never thought "I wish Navin was my best friend" or "I wish Xan liked me". But most importantly I never thought "I can really understand Donna and I can feel what she's feeling".

To sum it up I didn't connect with the book so, while I read "The Iron Witch", I probably will not be reading the subsequent books in the series. But that's me, and I want you to be cool, independent thinkers instead of mindless drones, so don;t just take my word. If it sounds like the genre you like- READ IT!
